People and Places - consultations on community plans

People and Places is designed to keep all those with an interest in making Northumberland a better place to live informed of the work being done to harness the county's collective might to make this a reality.
The latest edition gives an update on the community planning process and how people can become involved.

Paid and volunteer community development workers and their managers are invited to take part in the England Wide Survey of Community Development Work 2009.

The experiences and information you provide will be used to raise the profile of community development, nationally and locally, at this challenging and important time.

This is the authoritative England wide survey of community development workers and their managers, updating and improving on a similar survey conducted in 2003.

This survey will form part of a published report on Community Development Workers and Managers to be published in March 2010.

Opportunities for funding collaboration and information exchange

There are range of funding opportunities around at the moment linked to supporting local people into learning, work or enterprise. Northumberland VCS Learning Consortium has taken a lead in inviting local organisations and agencies to share information about what they are offering, and to look for potential funding partners. Equality Advocates Programme

NCDN is involved in an exciting regional project bringing people together to play an active role in promoting equality. Here is a summary of the programme.

Equality Advocates Meet the Public Sector... 27th July

This regional conference gave public sector equality officers and community-based equality advocates the chance to come together to look at how best to influence policy and practice - 27th July at MPH Conference Centre, Gateshead. Ranjana Bell the Chair of the regional NE Equality and Diversity Partnership Board, gave an update on plans to review the scope of the Board, and 77 delegates took part in round table discussions about how to recruit support and give a voice to equality advocates across the region. Interested in community development or youth work qualifications?

If you are interested in finding out more about an NVQ in Community Development work – Levels 2 & 3 or Youth Work at Level 2, contact NCDN and ask for Carol Burnett on 01670 520889

These NVQ‘s are relevant if you work on a full-time, part-time, unpaid or voluntary basis. You will gain a valuable qualification which demonstrates that you have the skills and knowledge needed to do your job well.
