Views of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender communities

John Dowswell of the Northumberland NHS Care Trust says:

"In a nutshell my current job is to engage with people in Northumberland about their use of social and health care services as part of our implementation of the 'Our Health Our Care Our Say' White Paper.

We know more about some communities than others, and one area of work we know little about concerns people from the Gay and Lesbian community. My own internal enquiries have not quite drawn a blank, but I think some 'outreach' is required!

Few of the people you may come across may access social care services, (as a service user or carer) but if they do, we would be interested in their views. I enclose a DRAFT questionnaire, which we would value your comments on prior to any further distribution.

We would see from responses if people would like to be more actively involved in a group or forum to contribute to the development of policy and practice within our services.

Please do let me know if you can help us with this work and if you have any suggestions on making it as effective as possible. I'm happy to meet up if you want a longer conversation.

With thanks

 John
